OUR MISSION IS TO FACILITATE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY FOR WARM SPRINGS INDIAN RESERVATION ARTISTS.
FACILITATE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY
About 250 to 300 of the 6,000 people living on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation are artists. Our purpose is to create opportunities where these artist can leverage their talents to generate income streams.
PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT
We work to connect the artists in our community to training, assistance, and other resources that will help them improve their entrepreneurial skills and develop their own unique art businesses.
RAISE AWARENESS OF TRIBAL ARTS
Artists in our community create various types of traditional and nontraditional art, representing themselves and their cultures. Pieces range anywhere from huckleberry baskets to deerskin dresses.
CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR CONNECTION
We facilitate regular meetings and workshops, which are attended by approximately 25 artists who have a desire to share their work with others. Our network is continuing to grow.
A proud history of creative partnership…
Get to know our community.
Marjorie Kalama prefers to be called Marg. Marg has beading techniques that have been used for centuries. She has the desire to replenish the family heirlooms.
I didn’t bead again for at least 20 years, until the 80’s, when my cousin Delcie said to me, “you know you want to bead” as she handed me a small white bunds.
Maxine started beading at a very young age and has been beading for over 60 years. She enjoys beading and considers herself a contemporary artist, it is her way of life.
